Fish from your own doorstep
Step off your veranda and onto the water: Hennesstrand Brygge sits on some of Norway's richest sea fishing grounds in Vesterålen — cod, halibut and coalfish are minutes from the harbour.
Every boat in our fleet is the same purpose-built model. Add the boat when you book your apartment — no separate reservation needed. Boat rental runs each year from 1 April to 30 September, with a minimum stay of 7 nights.
Fully Equipped, Safety First
Every boat in our fleet is the same purpose-built Kværnø 19 ft — a robust aluminium hull made for sea fishing. Each one comes ready to go:
- Boat: Kværnø 19 ft, robust aluminium, purpose-built for sea fishing
- Engine: 50 hp Yamaha 4-stroke
- Electronics: Garmin chartplotter with echo sounder & GoFish GPS tracking
- Fishing gear on board: rod holders and a fishing gaff
- Safety & handling: life jackets, telescopic boat hook, spare oar, drift (sea) anchor, an extra 30 m rope, and a grapnel anchor with 30 m rope
Life jackets must be worn by everyone whenever the boat is moving — this is Norwegian law. Emergency numbers and safety instructions are posted on board every boat. The skipper must be sober (zero alcohol tolerance) and, if born in 1980 or later, hold a valid boat licence (båtførerbevis).
Hennesstrand Brygge (org. no. 996599078) is a registered fishing tourism business — which means your catch can legally travel home with you when you leave Norway.

Equipment & Boat Capacity
A gutting shed with two work benches is available for preparing your catch, and each apartment has its own dedicated freezer. The shed also has a drying cabinet and hanging storage for fishing clothes and boots — with gentle heat underneath, so everything is dry for the next day at sea.
The boats themselves are certified for up to 8 people, but as a camp we allow a maximum of 4 people per boat.
Practical Information
Boat rental for fishing tourists is available every year from 1 April to 30 September. Simply add the Kværnø 19 ft boat as an add-on when you book your apartment — no separate booking is needed.

Fishing Rules & Export Quota
Recreational sea fishing north of 62°N follows Norway's minimum keep sizes — for example cod 55 cm, haddock 40 cm and halibut 84 cm — and only hand-held gear is allowed: rod, handline or jig. Selling your catch is not permitted; if you're ever in doubt about a fish's size, release it.
As Hennesstrand Brygge is a registered fishing tourism business, guests aged 12 and over may take up to 15 kg of fish per person home with them (dropping to 10 kg from 2027), up to twice a year.
